Gameplay in Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry
As a standalone version of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, this game does contain a lot of similarities to the main game. The gameplay is basically as same as before, Stealth, Explore and side activities are similar but with smaller in smaller content. (Such as Outpost Raids are available in this game)
This game also heavily depends on the ‘Naval Combat System’ like Black Flag. In the Naval combating system, the player will be able to control Adewale’s ship ‘Experto Crede’ like the Jackdaw in Black Flag.
Side Activities are basically about liberating slaves. Throughout the game, the player will rescue slaves from their horrible masters and grant liberation. (As the name suggests, ‘The Freedom Cry’). Adewale can rescue slaves from auctions, guard patrols, or from sugar plantations likewise.
Freedom Cry is set 20 years after the main events of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. The game’s protagonist is none other than Edward Kenway’s former quartermaster, Adewale. The story takes place the events of Adewale’s life as an Assassin.
The story begins when Adewale’s ship is wrecked off the coasts of Haiti. Adewale makes his way to Port-au-Prince and creates a contact with Bastienne Joseph, a local brothel proprietor. Then he joins with Maroons to fight for the freedom to the slaves in the West Indies.
While working with the Maroons and Bastienne, Adewale learns many things about Templars and their plans. In these moments he learns about the corrupted and brutal plans of the French rulers in the area. Adewale kills de Fayet the local French governor and ends the templar plots for the good. In this cause, he manages to save many slaves in the process. After killing the governer, Adewale takes his farewell from Bastienne and returns back to the Assassin Order.
The game generally has good reviews from the gamers as they love Adewale as a protagonist. IGN has given a 7/10 rating for the game. From our perspective, we are highly recommending Assassin Creed fans to play this game as it contains so much this that you don’t know about the franchise.
