Same as the movie series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part I game is the seventh edition of the Harry Potter Series, one behind the last of the series. The game was created by Electronic Arts and released in 2010 (Same year the Film released). This game is available for most of the gaming platforms such as PC (Windows), Console (PS3, Xbox 360), and mobile.

The game centers around Harry Potter, Ron Weasly and Hermione Granger, three main characters of the series. The story is about the adventures of these three’s quest to destroy the Horcruxes of Lord Voldemort.

If you have played other Harry Potter Games, you would notice that this game has a different gameplay approach. This is mainly because of the increased amount of fights in the story. The player can only control Harry Potter in the game which is not a great feature. Basically, the game uses the third-person perspective mechanisms.

The game contains an upgrading system for Harry’s spells. Harry can use the experience to upgrade those spells. We can find many spells and different gameplay approaches such as stealth gameplay and using a cover for avoiding incoming attacks.

Drawbacks in the Game

The game has faced a common problem faced by most of the movie games. That is the ‘fan expectation’. Fans who watched the movies expect more from the game. However, the game is not provided enough. That made the game to receive low ratings.

The new gameplay mechanisms also don’t look so interesting. Many claim the game is too boring. This is also a common problem in movie games. Lesser sub-activities, no open world at all, and most times, you have to cast spells at death eaters and magical creatures. These are the facts that made this game lesser interesting.

Conclusion

Like we said earlier, the game doesn’t receive good scores from reviewers. Metacritic only gave 37% as the PC ratings. This is a very low score comparing to many other games. However, it’s your choice to play this game or not. Maybe you’ll find something interesting in this game!
