Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag is obviously one of the best games in the entire Assassin’s Creed franchise. Ubisoft has done a great bit of storytelling and gameplay elements throughout the game. So, we decided to give you some facts about the best characters we all like in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag. Make sure to tell us about your picks for the top 5 characters in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag.
5. Anne Bonney
You are a fighter, aye. In prison, I heard stories of the infamous Anne Bonny and Mary Read, taking on the King’s Navy together. Just the pair of you.-Edward on Anne and Mary
Anne Bonny was an Irish Pirate and a close friend of Edward Kenway. In the latter part of the story (After Adewale joined the Caribbean Assassins), She worked as the quartermaster of the Jackdaw. Which makes a such an important character in the game.
Even though she was introduced as a barmaid in Nassau, she became a prominent character in Black Flag game. Becoming friends with Mary Read (aka James Kidd) and other pirates like “Calico” Jack Rackham makes her character much more important to the protagonist, Edward Kenway. The most important thing is that she was inspired by a real life pirate named Anne Bonny. We all can remember that epic pursue of the Jackdaw after ‘Sage’, Bartholomew Roberts and how she helped Edward as the quartermaster of Jackdaw.
4. Mary Read (aka James Kidd)
We’re Assassins and we follow a Creed, aye. But it does not command us to act or submit… only to be wise.-Mary Read to Edward about Assassins
Many Assassin’s Creed fans like her. Of course she is an Assassin, but her personality is very much different from other characters in the game. Initially introduced as ‘James Kidd’, the illegitimate son of the notorious pirate William Kidd. Most people doesn’t know her true identity until she reveals that secret to Edward (Another epic moment, you know what I mean…) These incidents makes her a important and well written character in Assassin’s Creed.
She is much more involved in Edward’s story even before Edward become an Assassin. And also she was the who identified Eagle Vision of Edward’s. It’s a shame that she didn’t made out alive from the prison with Anne Bonny, her friend.
3. Edward ‘Blackbeard’ Thatch
Kenway…, In a world without gold, we might have been heroes!-Blackbeard’s last words
Everybody’s favorite infamous ‘Blackbeard’ wins the number 3 spot of our list. He was a pioneer of creating the ‘Pirate Utopia’ in Nassau alongside Edward Kenway, Benjamin Hornigold and, James Kidd (Mary Read). A close friend of Edward Kenway actually he was the only one who haven’t lost cause like Vane, Rackham and, Hornigold.
Actually, Blackbeard’s death one of the most saddest moment in the Assassin’s Creed series. He wasn’t killed in a fair combat, he was ambushed and slain from behind despite all the efforts of Edward’s efforts to save him.
To fight beside a man so driven by personal gain and glory is a hard thing, Edward. And I have come to feel the Assassins – and their creed – a more honorable course.– Adewale to Edward about the brotherhood
Adewale, a former slave-turned pirate was an extremely important character in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag and later the DLC expansion Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry. Saved by Edward and recruited as the Jackdaw’s quartermaster, Adewale was always a loyal and trustworthy friend of Edward.
The fact we love about him is that he always despised the dishonest workings in piracy. That’s why he joined the Assassin Brotherhood sooner. In fact, we will talk about more of him our later articles on Assassin’s Creed games.
1. Edward Kenway
Well, obviously most important character in the game is the protagonist himself, Edward James Kenway. First introduced as just a pirate who only care about money and wealth. However as the story progress, we can see how well his character is developed.
Killing a traitorous Assassin and giving all valuable information about Assassins, Edward deals a huge damage to the brotherhood in the early of the story. However in the latter part of the story he manage to save many people by sealing the ‘Observatory’ for good. And also many keeps Edward as the second best protagonist in the series behind great ‘Ezio Auditore’. All because his unique characteristics than the other assassins. At last we will give you a great quote from Edward Kenway.
For years I’ve been rushing around, taking whatever I fancied, not giving a tinker’s curse for those I hurt. Yet here I am… with riches and reputation, feeling no wiser than when I left home. Yet when I turn around, and look at the course I’ve run… there’s not a man or woman that I love left standing beside me.-Edward about himself
